It started with bad tap water in Barcelona.

A few years ago, Sarah and I were living in Spain. The tap water in Barcelona is technically safe — but it tastes awful. Chlorine, metallic, just wrong. Like millions of people there, we were buying bottled water constantly. Expensive, wasteful, and annoying to carry home.

Then we found Tappwater. A simple screw-on filter that made the water taste clean. Actually clean. We used it every day and didn't think much more of it — until we moved back to Sydney in October 2020.

We knew we had to bring it with us.

We launched in a hotel room during Covid lockdown.

Two weeks of mandatory quarantine. A 5-month-old. A laptop. That's where Tappwater Australia was born.

It wasn't glamorous. But we believed in the product, we'd seen it work, and we knew Australians deserved access to it. So we got to work.

Four years later, we're still here — still a family team, still packing orders out of our Sydney warehouse, still answering your emails personally.

That 5-month-old is Max — he's six now, and he has a little brother. As parents, what comes out of our taps matters for more than just taste. You think a lot differently about what's in your water when your kids are drinking it every day.
