Terrific product!

Great water filter - could smell and taste the difference immediately. Compact size means it is not in the way when using the sink. We have switched from a counter-top unit which was difficult to fit a glass under much less a cooking pot, so are delighted to have filtered water on tap. The TAPP filter & supplied adaptor didn't fit our tap, but they sent out an additional set of adaptors at no cost and one fit perfectly. We are very, very happy with our TAPP water filter.

How does the EcoPro Work?

 

EcoPro uses an ultra-advanced 5-stage Microfiltration technology with activated carbon in its refills.

The activated carbon block, made from coconut shell, is capable of absorbing chemical, gaseous, metallic and organic elements thanks to its microscopic structure and its highly porous surface.

When tap water passes through the filter, contaminants are retained in the spherical particles of activated carbon such as lime, chlorine (responsible for bad taste), microplastics, sand, rust and sediment, lead, mercury, salmonella, legionella, pesticides. , herbicides, drug residues, nitrates and more than 100 substances.

What's left is clean, filtered water ready for consumption.

EcoPro Materials

 

    The materials we use for the filter reinforce our commitment to sustainability, quality and durability.

    A + B. The filter housing + the lever (filtered / unfiltered) are made of ABS and PC plastic, free of toxic such as BPA and phthalates, made of natural raw materials.

    C. The casing is the part that covers the spare part (carbon block) and which has to be saved and reused every time we put in a new spare part. This part is also made of ABS and PC plastic, free of toxins like BPA and phthalates.

    D. The refill (carbon block), the part that filters the water, is made of coconut shells (70%) that biodegrade into CO2 and water, and UHMW (30%) that is inert and stable and does not accumulate in marine life . We also use two small pieces of silicone to ensure that the carbon block remains in place thus ensuring maximum filtration efficiency. These decompose into amorphous silica, carbon dioxide, and water.

    Replacement Frequency


    Water quality and filtration efficiency can only be guaranteed up to a usable capacity of 3 months.

    Our quality parameters for filtering substances and pollutants exceed 95% in most cases (depending on the type of pollutant it can be higher, as in the case of chlorine filtering, with 99%).

    If you use the refill beyond these 3 months, the efficiency of filtering contaminants such as pesticides and herbicides, VOCs and microplastics will no longer meet our quality parameters.

    In addition to the aspects mentioned in relation to absorption and efficiency, you must bear in mind that activated carbon is a material of organic origin that can be a breeding ground for microorganisms, which over time can lead to the proliferation of bacteria.

    This is a normal situation with organic materials like activated carbon, regardless of how much you use the filter.

    We advise you that if you do not use the filter for a few days, let the water pass for 30 seconds before consuming it to clean the bacteria that may have accumulated.


    EcoPro Usage Tips

    • Use hot water only in the NO filtered position
    • Avoid washing the filter with soap
    • If you haven't used the filter in several days, let the filtered water run for 30 seconds
    • Avoid exposing the filter to heat
    • The old replacement should be discarded in the gray container because apart from being made of coconut shells (70%), it is also composed of other materials such as UHMW (30%) and silicone parts. 

    Will it fit on my tap?

    The ecopro has a thread diameter which is compatible with 90% of taps in Australia. Not sure if you're tap is compatible? Send us a message and we can let you know right away!

    How to install your filter

    Installing your ecopro is super simple. Simply remove your aerator from your current tap, screw on your water filter and you're good to go!

    • Remove the aerator from your tap

      All taps have an aerator which screws in or onto your tap. If you're unsure where your aerator is, let us know and we can help 🙂

    • Attach the water filter

      Simply attach your water filter by screwing in/on the EcoPro to your tap. We include an adapter with each pack, but if it's not the right size, we will send you out the right adapter for free!

    • Enjoy great tasting tap water!

      That's it! You're ready to go. Simply switch between filtered and unfiltered water with the lever on the side of the filter.

    How does the EcoPro Improve the taste of tap water?

    There are several causes of the bad taste of tap water. Water hardness, the concentrated amount of dissolved minerals such as calcium or magnesium, is one of them. The higher the concentration of these elements, the higher the hardness.

    Chlorine also directly affects the poor taste of the water from our taps. Other causes may be excess calcium or potassium in the water.

    Our filters eliminate these substances, so the water from your tap will be clean, transparent, and taste great.

    How do I know if the EcoPro is compatible with my tap?

    Our filter is compatible with standard thread taps. 

    The thread of our filter is F22, the most common size. We also include an M24 Adapter, the second most common size.

    If you're unsure if your tap is compatible, send our team a message with a photo of your tap, and we can let you know if you need an adapter.

    Why do I need to change the filter every three months?

    The refill is made of carbon, a material of organic origin that can be a breeding ground for microorganisms, which over time, can give rise to the proliferation of bacteria. These bacteria accumulate behind the filter and can contaminate the water.
    It is a typical situation with activated carbon filters, regardless of how many of you are in the house or whether the filter has not been used for a while.

    Can I filter hot and cold water?

    It is not recommended to use the filter with hot water. The materials that cover the replacement cartridge are not resistant to high temperatures, which may cause the cartridge to melt. If you need hot water, you can get it by turning the lever and using the unfiltered water.

    Why is the EcoPro made of plastic?

    After studying different materials and solutions, the plastic we use has been the winning solution in terms of durability (and, therefore, sustainability). At TAPP Water, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. In this sense, beyond the plastic bottles that are avoided with our filters, we are constantly evolving and asking ourselves questions about materials, transportation, and, ultimately, how to make our value chain have a better impact on the environment.
